Finding the right therapist should not depend on your ZIP code.
Chicago is home. Virtual therapy lets us bring the same grounded, culturally aware approach to clients across Illinois, Texas, Arizona, Washington, D.C., and Maryland.
JL Family Services provides in-person therapy in Chicago and online therapy across Illinois, Texas, Arizona, Washington, D.C., and Maryland. We expanded because clients should have more than two choices: wait indefinitely for whoever is local, or settle for a therapist who does not feel like the right fit. Our multistate model gives eligible clients more flexibility to look for connection, clinical focus, cultural awareness, schedule, and availability.
Choose your therapy location.
Each location page explains how JL Family Services works in that area, who we support, what virtual therapy can make easier, and how to begin.

A therapist can be technically available and still not be the right fit. Clients may be looking for someone who understands cultural context, relationships, identity, trauma, family dynamics, high-pressure careers, LGBTQ+ concerns, or simply a communication style that feels more human.
Virtual care allows JL Family Services to widen the pool without losing the part that matters most: the relationship. Our goal is not to be everywhere. It is to be available in the states where our clinicians are licensed and where we can offer clients a meaningful alternative when local options feel limited.
Built for real people carrying real things.
We work with children, teenagers, adults, couples, and families across a range of concerns. Services, age groups, and availability vary by clinician and state.
People carrying a lot
For clients who are capable, responsible, and getting things done—but tired of carrying stress, burnout, anxiety, or emotional pressure alone.
Couples and relationships
For communication breakdowns, emotional distance, trust concerns, intimacy changes, repeating arguments, and decisions about what comes next.
Clients who want culturally aware care
For people who want identity, lived experience, family culture, race, gender, sexuality, and community context to be understood as part of the whole picture.
Adults in transition
For career shifts, grief, dating, parenthood, relocation, boundaries, identity questions, and seasons where the old version of life no longer fits.
Families, children, and teens
Support may be available for family patterns, school stress, big feelings, behavior changes, parent-child relationships, and adolescent concerns based on clinician fit.
People who are tired of surface-level therapy
For clients who want a therapist who listens closely, notices patterns, asks useful questions, and helps turn insight into something different in real life.
Less logistics. More room to focus on the actual work.

Skip the commute
Remove traffic, parking, long drives, and travel time from the therapy equation.
Broaden your search
Look beyond the therapists closest to you and focus more on fit, specialty, identity, and schedule.
Keep care consistent
Virtual sessions can be easier to protect when work, school, parenting, caregiving, travel, or weather makes office visits harder.
Start with fit—not paperwork.
Request a free telephone consultation and tell us what you are looking for. From there, our intake process helps clarify therapist options, location, availability, and billing steps before your first session.
Everything you need to make the next step clearer.
Questions about multistate therapy
Where does JL Family Services provide therapy?
JL Family Services provides in-person therapy at its Chicago office and virtual therapy for eligible clients in Illinois, Texas, Arizona, Washington, D.C., and Maryland.
Are you accepting new clients?
Yes. JL Family Services currently has openings. Availability depends on location, clinician licensure, specialty, schedule, service type, and therapist fit.
Why does JL Family Services serve multiple states?
The practice expanded virtual services to give clients more options when local availability, long waitlists, distance, or therapist fit make it difficult to begin care.
Is virtual therapy the same as an in-person appointment?
Virtual therapy is delivered by secure video and can provide a consistent therapy experience without travel. Your clinician will help determine whether telehealth is appropriate for your needs.
How do I get started?
Request a free telephone consultation. The intake process helps identify your needs, preferred therapist style, location, availability, and next steps for billing and care.
Need urgent support? JL Family Services is an outpatient therapy practice and is not an emergency service. If you are in immediate danger, call 911. In the United States, call or text 988 for the Suicide & Crisis Lifeline.
You do not need the perfect words. You just need a place to start.
Tell us where you are located, what you are navigating, and what you want in a therapist. We will help you understand your options.
